12/21/2008 – Desanitizing Christmas, Josh Crain — sermon length is 36:08 minutes
Christmas has been cleaned up and made into a commercial success. Even our nativity scenes paint a rosy, cheery picture of the birth of Christ. In this message, Josh digs deep into the family lineage of Jesus to show that there are more than a few skeletons in the closet. The miracle of Christmas is that God came as Immanuel and entered wholly into our story. In our dirt, our filth, our apathy, our violence — God among us: Immanuel.

12/14/2008 – Living In The Cut, Josh Crain — sermon length is 32:30 minutes
Part 4 of the series, Colossians — Remixed. From the time of Abraham, God has chosen to live in covenant with a people that He has set apart. Abraham and his descendants were told to circumcise themselves as a sign of this covenant; to "live in the cut" in relationship with their God. Paul explains that though physical circumcision is no longer necessary, God's people continue to "live in the cut" through the spiritual circumcision that results from following after Jesus. Paul emphasizes that Christ is sufficient for us apart from legalism, festivals, and philosophies.

11/23/2008 & 11/30/2008 Special Gatherings,
For these two Sundays, Milestone held community gatherings consisting of music, art, photography, film, Scripture reading, prayer, and teaching. While these are special times for our community, a simple Podcast recording cannot possibly capture the heart of our time together. Therefore, there are no audio files for these two gatherings.

11/16/2008 – Recaptured Imagination, Josh Crain — sermon length is 43:12 minutes
Part 2 of the series, Colossians — Remixed. When Paul writes to the church in Colossae, he struggles for nothing less than their very imaginations. Having been immersed in the imagery of the Roman empire since birth, Paul seek to recapture their imaginations for the Kingdom of God by extolling the unbelievable majesty of Jesus Christ. Today we face the same challenges of overcoming the imagery and the hold that the empire has on our minds.

11/9/2008 – The Empire, Josh Crain — sermon length is 42:04 minutes
Part 1 of the series, Colossians — Remixed. Our world is a much different place than it was when Paul first wrote to the Christian church in Colossae almost 2,000 years ago. Postmodern thought and the emerging global economy have shifted the way we think and the categories for which we place new information. It’s important to understand Paul’s message for Christ followers to go against the empire in which they live: to receive the grace of God and to spread the “the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven” in a world that has turned even our faith into a commodity to be sold.

Part 1 of the 5-part series, Who Is This Man? Caesar Augustus was called "savior" by the citizens of Rome. Because of the relative peace he brought to Rome, his birthday was considered the "beginning of tidings of joy" and he was referred to as the "son of god." It is into this world that Jesus Christ is born and pronounced to be the true Son of God and bringer of peace.
