It pains me to look at the deeds and actions of some Christians. There is no doubt that the body of Christ is facing persecution by the world; but more than anyone else attacks us we seem to attack ourselves.
Why is it so difficult for us to go and speak to our brothers and sisters in Christ that we have a problem with? We often go to great lengths to talk about them behind their backs; to try and destroy their credibility within the church body or within the community. Often we do this without even being sure of the great offense that we think they’ve laid upon us.
And the questions remains…why? Is it so hard to confront the person face-to-face in order to come to a mutual respect for one another in Christ? Are we afraid that if we actually resolve the issue then we won’t have anything to complain about?
It breaks my heart to know that the church has a difficult time being the kingdom of God because we often rather enjoy being a kingdom of slanderers. We like giving others bad news about fellow Christians; it makes us feel powerful, and it makes us feel more righteous. Unfortunately, it has the negative consequence of making us neither.
We must stop dividing and stand together in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And if you’re reading this and you’re afraid I may be writing this because of you, maybe you should come and talk to me about what it is you’ve done…I’d love nothing more than to pray and be reconciled with you.
