Thankfully, I spoke with both of those people on the phone this week and they were very understanding.
For those of you who don't know me quite as well, here is what's been going on lately:
My wife Emily graduated in May of this last year. I couldn't be more proud of her because we've had to move around a lot since we've been married because of horrible church experiences and Seminary. I've always felt bad about that because I love Emily with all of my heart and I know it can't be easy to go to four different colleges in four years.
But, good news: my baby is intelligent. She graduated on time, even though she had to move all over the country to do it. So like I said, I'm extremely proud of her.
In anticipation of her graduating and working, we moved into a nicer apartment complex; not luxurious, but just a nicer part of town and more space to live in. Unfortunately, it took longer for her to find a job that we thought it would and it was difficult for us to make the payments for a few months. She's working at a bank right now, though, so things are looking up.
About three months ago I started doing the math on our credit card debt, students loans, etc. and I got very depressed. Going to school is really expensive, and we've been operating on a single salary pretty much since we've been married. We've always made payments on time and our credit history is immaculate, but after doing some math Emily and I decided I needed to slow down on school a bit in order to work more and pay down some debt instead of blasting full speed ahead and graduating with enough debt to choke a whale shark (weren't expecting a "whale shark" to be used in that analogy, were you?).
So I got a second job working about 20 hours a week at the Apple Store in addition to the 15-20 hours I'm working at my church and the 6 hours of class I'm taking and the 12-15 hours of homework I have every week. Translation? I'm a very busy guy right now.
Oh, and I also can't write anything about Apple anymore. All employees have to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so I pretty much have to pretend like the company doesn't exist apart from my working there. So there goes that element of my blog...
Anyway, just wanted to give everyone an update. Hopefully when things settle down I can write a little more regularly because I definitely enjoy interacting with you guys. Grace and peace to you all and have a great Thanksgiving!
